Overview
Cube-IQ supports containers with irregular internal geometries, such as Unit Load Devices (ULDs) with non-rectangular floors or ceilings.
This article describes how to configure an irregular ULD by defining its maximum dimensions and specifying the coordinates that describe the irregular floor and/or ceiling profile.
Requirements
- A Cube-IQ instance
- The dimensions and geometry of the ULD to be configured
- The floor and/or ceiling coordinates of the irregular area
Procedure
-
Define the basic container information
Start by creating or editing the container and entering the maximum dimensions of the ULD.
Set the Length, Width, and Height to the maximum values of the container in each direction.
Set the Container Type to:
Irregular Shape / ULD
These maximum dimensions define the overall bounding box of the ULD. The irregular geometry is then defined separately using the floor and ceiling coordinates.
-
Define the irregular floor
Next, configure the coordinates that define the irregular floor and/or ceiling.
In this example, the ULD has an irregular profile along the Y axis (Width).
Enter the floor coordinates as shown below:
When entering the coordinates, make sure to use the correct view reference.
In this example, the Front View is selected. The dimension highlighted in red represents the Width (Y axis).
The coordinates entered for the irregular floor therefore describe how the floor height changes along the width of the ULD.
-
Define the ceiling
If the ceiling is also irregular, configure its coordinates using the same approach as the floor.
For this particular ULD, the ceiling is constant, so no irregular ceiling profile is required:
The same view reference should be used when defining both the floor and ceiling coordinates.
-
Configure the remaining container settings
The remaining container settings do not require any special configuration for an irregular ULD.
Configure them in the same way as you would for a standard container, according to the requirements of the specific application.
