Overview
- When building a load, the optimizer builds blocks of products as large as possible within the constraints of the product, container and load settings.
- This can sometimes result in a product with a later sequence being placed in an unreachable part of the container.
- This can be addressed by adjusting the maxreach setting.
- The maxreach setting limits how far back subsequently loaded items can be placed from the front most item in the container.
- This article will show you how to adjust the maxreach setting to help solve this problem.
Symptoms
A product is placed in an area of the container where it cannot be loaded due to other products in front of it.
Example
In the below illustration, the yellow products are loaded first, with the red products stacked on top of them.
However, in order to load the red products according to the diagram, you would have to reach over the frontmost four yellow products.
Possible Causes
The value of the maxreach setting may be too large.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Select Settings from the Menu bar near the top of the Cube-IQ window.
- Select Operational Settings from the available tabs.
- Change the value in the field labeled Maximum reach to reflect the furthest distance you expect to be able to reach behind products that have already been loaded.
- Optimize the load again.
- The below illustration is the same load from above, but now with a maxreach setting of 36 inches.
- As you can see, the red products can now be loaded without having to reach over several yellow products.
