Overview
This article will show you how to enable and use the May be shipped by itself option/feature in Cube-IQ which allows you to treat a product as already packaged and suitable for shipment on its own. This prevents unnecessary repacking unless doing so improves container efficiency.
It’s ideal for boxed, shrink-wrapped, or retail-ready items that don't require additional protection.

How to Enable:
- Open the Products tab (or press
F5). - Then click on the Other data tab.
- You’ll find the setting labeled: May be shipped by itself.
- Open the Products tab (or press

Function – When enabled, Cube-IQ will:
- Treat the product as a standalone, shippable unit.
- Place it into a carton only if it fits without requiring additional or larger cartons.
- Otherwise, ship the product on its own in its existing packaging.

When to Use – Enable this option for:
- Pre-boxed electronics and equipment.
- Shrink-wrapped or bundled sets.
- Retail-ready products that don’t need extra protection.

Examples:

Boxed items
A toaster or coffee maker in its retail packaging.
A boxed printer can be shipped alone.

Shrink-wrapped items
A 12-pack of bottled water or canned soda.

A display tray of granola bars or candy meant to go straight on store shelves.
